Borani Esfenaj is a delicious Persian spinach yogurt dip – A must have appetiser for any party! It’s such an easy quick recipe but makes for a delicious dip for bread, crackers or crisps (I’m talking about chips, American friends). I don’t just prepare borani for parties though, I also make small batches just for the two of us for movie night.

Ab Doogh Khiar – Refreshing Yogurt Soup
Ab Doogh Khiar is a refreshing, cold yogurt soup with cucumbers, herbs, raisins and walnuts. We dunk pieces of bread in it, making the soup nice and filling without being too heavy. It’s the ideal lunch or dinner for hot summer days.
The basis of this cold yoghurt soup is a Persian yoghurt drink called Doogh, similar to Turkish Ayran. You can easily make it yourself! I recommend using strained yogurt, a sour tasting one would be ideal. You can find it in Turkish or Iranian supermarkets. But if you don’t have access to one, don’t worry. You can also use Greek or Greek style yogurt and your Ab Doogh Khiar will be just as refreshing.

Swiss Chard Borani is a yogurt dip with Swiss chard, garlic and walnuts. Borani refers to delicious Persian yogurt dips, that make great snacks, sides or nibbles for parties! There are lots of versions of Borani! A popular one is Borani-ye Esfenaj - yogurt spinach dip. This time, I thought I’d switch the recipe up by using Swiss chard instead.
Mast o Khiar – Yogurt Dip with Cucumber, Raisins and Walnuts
Mast o Khiar is a delicious, creamy yogurt dip, that you can enjoy simply on its own, with crackers as a snack, or as a side to a main meal. Mast o Khiar simply translates to ‘yogurt and cucumber’ and so the basic version is made of yogurt, cucumbers and garlic, seasoned with salt.
