Chips Paneer - Cheesy Crisps

Chips Paneer is a delicious fast food created by Iranian sandwich and pizza shops in the ’00s. It’s perfect for game day or parties as a hearty snack. "Chipso" is the Persian word for chips, and "Panir" means cheese. So, Chipso Panir translates to "cheese chips" or "cheese crisps." These are savory and crispy snacks made from cheese and various seasonings.

Chips paneer - chipso panir

Time

Prep: 10 min

Cook: 15 min

Total: 25 min

Ingredients for 4

200g/7oz crisps/chips (don’t get them wrong with fries, crisps are potato chips or thin slices of potato that are deep-fried, baked, or air-fried until crunchy.) I use my favourite - Walkers Ready Salted crisps

400g or 4 cups grated mozzarella or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar (you can also use Colby, Pepper Jack, American, or classic Monterey Jack)

150g smoked ham

4 tbsp sweetcorn

1 chilli

1 tbsp chopped parsley to garnish (optional)

For the sauce

3 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tbsp ketchup

2tsp hot sauce

1/4 tsp ground garlic

1 tsp dried basil

Preparation

Remove the core, seeds, and any white pith from the flesh and dice the bell pepper.

Turn the ham into smaller pieces.

Slice the chili into rings.

Baking the Chips-o Paneer

Spread half of the crisps on an oven tray followed by a quarter of the cheese, half of the ham, a quarter of the sweet pepper, and a quarter of the sweetcorn.

Spread the other half of the chips followed by the rest of the cheese, ham, sweet pepper, sweetcorn, and chili rings on top.

Bake at 180 degrees Celsius / 356 Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.

Making the sauce

Combine the mayo, ketchup, hot sauce, ground garlic, and dried basil in a bowl.

Serve your delicious Cheesy Crisps

Serve this yummy snack, hot, with sauce on the side. Enjoy!
